Community
John 13: 34-35
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have
love for one another.”
We are so impressed with the sense of community that is here at City Centre Church. There is no doubt biblically that without love, and without unity within a faith community, there is no witness to Jesus Christ. We take seriously that first, we must love one another in a safe environment… warts and all! The Holy Spirit continues to lead this community to be loving. Our prayer is that this will continue.
Discipleship
John 8: 31-32
Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
We all are on a journey. We all are called to follow Jesus and that means that we are growing. Following Jesus requires a continued need to learn about Christ and follow His example. We know that our love for one another and our witness to the world do not come from a power that we as humans innately have. Instead it is by the presence of God, the Father, revealed in Jesus Christ, through the power of His Holy Spirit. As a result of this, we will continue to emphasize and pursue discipleship as a norm here at City Centre Church.
Missional
Matthew 5: 14-16
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
We have become a church that believes in reaching out to this neighbourhood. Through the continuation of serving monthly meals at S.U.M.; the continuation of caring for needy families and others in the neighbourhood; and the new ministry giving free clothes to the neighbourhood; City Centre Church has embraced mission. There is no doubt that the Holy Spirit has moved the church and will continue to move us in this direction. The desire of the church will be to diligently listen to the Spirit, as He leads us to continue to bring a light to the city.
